What was that?

I know I haven’t been a very good blogger as of late. It’s not that I’m trying to avoid you, it’s just that… well…. Okay, you want the truth? The truth is I choose to do something else then to sit here and type. I know, I know. That’s not a good excuse. And it really doesn’t take that long to write out a post. I just would rather do something else. That is, until it’s been almost a month and I figure I need to write something so that I don’t lost the 5 people who actually read here. Which doesn’t give the whole picture, really, for I enjoy writing. I enjoy jotting down the ins and outs of our life. Except, when I write so few and far between, I neglect many of those things that I want to preserve.

I said it in the beginning and I’ll say it again: I’ve always been bad at keeping a journal. I obviously am not any better with the digital version.  Sigh

On to more interesting things…… I’ll show what I’ve been doing instead of typing, okay?

Have you heard of the quilt pattern Swoon? If you haven’t, well, if you get hooked on making them like I have, it’s not my fault. They are just so pretty! Here are a few pictures to show you what I mean:

As for my contributions to this lovely pool of Swoons:

I am making 2 Swoon quilts, one for my mother(fabric found here) and the other for me us (fabric found here). The one of the right is my mother’s and the one on the left is for me.

The gray is mine. The pink one is my mother’s (with an added “oops” factor to it, I know. I’d like to say I was humble enough to leave that in, but the real truth I was too lazy to dig through my stuff to find more pink and white fabric to fix it.).

On Flickr (yes, I gave in to the Flickr call!), they are having a contest to see who can make the ugliest block. Well, as you can see above, I entered it. What do you think? Does this monster have a chance of winning?

This one I finished as a wall hanging. I am in the process of making different wall hangings (and maybe a baby quilt) to take to 2 of our local shops (where they sell non-needed yet uber cool things) and discuss with them about selling my creations on consignment or something of that nature.

I echoed the black star with just a strait stich and I then echoed the outer portion as well. I tightly stippled the inner white portion and did a very large, lose meander in the outer white portion. The back is pieced (I love a pieced back!), with red piping between the back strip and the black/white strip on the right. You can see the small triangles in the top corners that are little “pockets” for the rod to rest in (instead of making a whole sleeve across the back).

And here we have my “English Tea” wall hanging. This is in it’s early stage, for there will be lilacs quilted behind the tea cup, but you get the idea of it from here. I’m waiting to quilt this thing until I get my new threads that I purchased from Connecting Threads. I bought the Farmer’s Market set and the Homestead set, along with this fabric and this one. (It was a tough choice between the one I ordered and this one and this one!)

Oh, I just love getting goodies in the mail!
