Bed Quilts

Please understand that these are all approximate sizes, for the size of the bed itself will determine the finished quilt size.

As always, any quilt you order from Patches of Grace can be made specifically for you, to the desired size you want.

All quilts are made with 100% cotton fabric.

Batting is 100% cotton for maximized softness without drastic shrinkage.

All thread used, in piecing and quilting, is 100% cotton.

Below you will find the specifications for each bed quilt size, along with pictures of various quilts that I have made.

Twin Quilt

A twin bed quilt can range in size, depending on if you have a standard twin or an extra long one. Generally, most twin quilts fall within 64″ x 86″ and 72″ x 96″. Of course, a twin quilt can be made to specifically fit the mattress it will be used with in whatever combination the customer desires.

“The Giant Swoon”

Perhaps you would prefer to custom size a quilt for a specific bed. Below is how you will determine the size of the quilt:

  • Measure the mattress: length, width, and depth. Most standard mattresses measure 8″ –12” while the newer deeper ones can measure up to 20″.
  • Add to each measurement the amount of drop you would like down the side of the bed. Do you want it to the floor? To the bottom of the top mattress? To the bottom of the box spring?
  • Remember to add a pillow tuck if you want a portion of the quilt to tuck under the pillows, and then carry on over top of the pillows. This measurement will depend on the depth of the pillows and how much of a pillow tuck is desired.

Depending on the quilt pattern you are using, your borders could be the drop off the side of the bed. For example, if you want a 15″ drop, I will add a 15″ border to your quilt top.
