A time like no other

My girls are currently wandering down memory lane by reading my old posts. They came home & shared a “survey” I published in 2010, which asked my 4 eldest children (3.5, 6, 7, & 9 at the time) various questions. That spurned them to keep reading, giggling & enjoying the happenings of whatever day the were reading. Each of them would comment “I don’t remember that!” or “did (so & so) really do that?”. I remember this being the reason why I kept this blog in the first place: to remember. To have a written record of our family, of our relationships, of the many experiences we share with each other. ( You know, like when your 2.5 year old puts her hand on her hip that is sticking out quite dramatically, with her head tilted to the side with a teenagers attitude, & informs you “I’m stinky. You need to change my diaper.” I half expect to see her twirling her hair around her finger & chewing gum obnoxiously with her mouth open as she says it. Like a bratty 14 year old. Not that I’ve ever had one of those.)

Sadly, there is quite the gap in my posts here. There’s A LOT of life that has been lost to oblivion, never to be remembered. And that’s a shame. A real shame, because there is so much joy in reading what our family has done. The funny conversations that have occurred within these walls. The tears of sorrow & the tears of joy that have been shed. The late night meetings that my teen & adult children sometimes need (& why is it always around midnight?!).

And I’ve missed writing. There’s something within a writer that just burns to be put into word. To bring to life the thoughts & ideas that often rush through the mind as a swollen river in spring (although sometimes the ideas come at a more sedate pace, like a creek in mid-summer that hasn’t seen rain in awhile).

So this is my 3rd attempt to (re)start this blog. Can you say that you’re starting something for the 3rd time?

Why yes. Yes you can.
