Anybody home?

Yes, yes I’m here. I haven’t been feeling all that great lately, so posting has been put on the back burner with everything else that needs to be done. I did finish those clothes I was making for a friend of mine’s daughter. They live in Arkansas. I made her 3 bloomers, 1 slip, 1 nightgown with matching bloomers, 3 jumpers, 1 dress and 1 pinafore. I had fun making them. I had the dead-line in my head to have them done and in the mail by June 4th. They were all done and in the mail last Tuesday (May 28th). It feels good to have them done and off!

Now I have 3 other projects that I’m doing at the same time. I’m not sure why I keep doing this to myself, but I do. I’m finishing up the last play jumper for Maacah (using old sheets for her play clothes this summer was a wonderful idea! She is so hard on her clothes. And now I’m not worrying when she gets them stained ~ which they are ~ and ripped ~ ditto. ) I’m almost done with a diaper bag I’m making for my sister-in-law. Hancock Fabrics was going out of business and I happend to see that last Thursday was there last day. So we went in and I bought $350 worth of things for….get this….$17! I’m still excited! I got lots of buttons, zippers, ribbon, eyelet lace (from 2″ to 5″ wide), a cool ironing board with measurements, circles, diagonals, etc. on it, and 2 yards of canvas for $1(which was originally $10 a yard). I’m making the diaper bag out of this canvas. The bag is 100% washable in the washer, which is really nice. I like the pattern a lot, and if I ever find canvas that I like (and can afford), I’d like to make one for myself.

And I need to finish making a quilt square for Adam’s grandmother. We are leaving for PA this Thursday (June 7) for her 80th birthday. All 16 Dewing’s here in Crandon are going down there for this party. We are so excited! For a gift, all the families are making a “quilt square srcap book” for her. Each family (or person) makes one quilt square out of material that remind us of grandma. We then add embellishments to it that also remind us of her. It’s a fun idea. I have the front done and ready to be sewn to the back and batting. Then I will quilt around the border and embroider a saying she always says, “And it came to pass..”. That way the words will be “puffy” and stand out more.

I also need to finish the laundry. I suppose one should ask why am I sitting here, wasting my time? Good question. I’ll think of an answer and post it next time. With that, I’ll leave you with a recent picture of our children, taken last Sunday (May 27). I may not post again until we get back, which will be the night of June 16. So don’t worry about me (although I’m not worried about that happening. The only regular reader here will be with me, hopefully doing all the driving at night). :0)
