Happy Birthday to….

ME!!

It’s my birthday today. My “golden birthday”, to be exatact. For those who don’t know what a “golden” birthday is, it’s when you turn the age your birthday date is. I’m turning 28 on the 28th.

So what do I have planned for today? A party? A relaxing day? A birthday cake? No, we have doctor appointments to attend to. And why not, right? I am the mother of 4.9 children, after all. Malachi needs to see the cardiologist this morning. And we think he has out-grown the STV . I’ll let you know what all happens with that.

Next, we will go out to eat at the Chines Buffet for lunch. We have allotted one meal out per month, so I’ve been “saving” all month to go out on my birthday. Then we will do a bit of shopping (not Christmas shopping. Just normal, what-do-we-need-this-week kind of shopping).

Finally, we need to be back in town for my appointment at 4:45 pm. I’m 36 weeks along now and at this point, some tests need to be taken and I start being “checked” for dilation. I’m certain nothing is happening and that’s good. For once, I want this baby to wait until my mother is here. All of the other pregnancies I was chopping at the bit to “get this over with”. And here I am praying that it lasts until she’s here. Go figure.

Anyway, that’s what I have planned today. But that’s not to say nothing else will happen. I was planning on getting up, getting dressed and taking this morning easy. I should have know better. It wasn’t meant to be.

When I got out of the shower, Malachi was already crying and proceeded to cry for the next 2 hours or so. He didn’t want to eat, drink, be held, be left alone… If we didn’t need to leave for the doctor’s this morning, I would have put him back to bed. I told Adam that he’s one walking bottle of sob.

Isaac peed on two shirts this morning, before breakfast. I have figured out that when people say that boys are harder to potty train then girls, they are not talking about getting them from diapers to undies. They are talking about training them not to pee all over everything. Essentially, you train boys twice. Once to go in the toilet. And once on where the pee shouldn‘t go. You know, like on the wall.

Grace has been one ball of energy this morning. I don’t think she’s stopped jumping up and down, running back and forth, wiggling this way and that for longer then 5 minutes. And she’s been up since 7 o’clock.

And Maacah….well, she’s been Maacah. That says enough.

So, we’ll see what the rest of the day will bring. It’s a good thing that as you get older, birthday’s don’t mean as much as they did when you are little. Otherwise, I’d probably just sit down and cry with this mornings’ shananagans.
