Day 8

Well this day, or morning really, was a bit, well….crazy. As if the last two weeks weren’t crazy enough, I had to go and be admitted to the ER. It seems I’m allergic to something with the bedding (like I mentioned yesterday). Well, this morning I woke up and my upper lip, eyes and hands were swollen and there were red blotches all over my face and going down the front and back of my neck/chest/back. Then, around 9 o’clock, I could feel my throat starting to close together. It was becoming to difficult to swallow and breathe. So after feeding Nathaniel, I went to the Urgent Care to get some help/relief. When I told them I was beginning to have difficulties breathing, they started an IV and sent me over to the ER. I got a shot of steroids to help me breathe (and I will take them orally for the next 9 days) and a shot of Bennadryl. I am feeling better now. My head is no longer itching, I don’t have much swelling left and the red hives are pretty much gone. I just took some more anti-histamine to stay on top of the swelling and stuff. I’m thinking it has something to do with the bedding; whether it’s the detergent, fabric softener or perhaps the filling in the pillows (for I’m having the reaction only on the places that come in contact with the pillows. Only my face, upper torso, hands, knees and the tops of my feet seem to be effected. I had Adam bring my own pillows today.).

Okay enough of the crazy news. Now it’s time for the best news I’ve had in 2 weeks. * Sing this to the tune of “We are family” * We. Are. Going. Home. They said that if there is no seizure activity tonight, then they will discharge us tomorrow. Yay!!! The doctor said this morning to the nurse that he will be discharged on Monday. Yesterday, I was telling her that Adam will be here on Sunday and it would be the best time to go home since I have a ride. Well, she asked the doctor this morning if we could be discharged a day early and he said fine. Not a problem. So, Yay!, we are going home tomorrow (hopefully).
