The first leg

Hello all! Well, here we are, in the hotel in Salt Lake City and it’s about 11:45 am. Adam has gone to get the car while we are waiting for my mother.

The train ride was very interesting. While it was a bit of a hasel (driving 6 hours south to get the train and the driving 6 hours to my mothers house, not to mention the 35+ hours it took for the train to get here), it was still a nice trip. We all got to get up and walk around and we didn’t have to stop every 30 min. to go potty! Yeah! The train had a “lounge car” that was really nice to sit in. Half the car had seats looking out each side of the car and the other half had booths you can sit at. The car had big windows the whole length of the car and had windows on the ceiling too. So there was a lot of light coming in and you could see the scenery much better than in your seats. There were other children that our children played with and talked with. And there were other adult that Adam and I talked with. Although it was much longer than driving strait through, in my opinion, I like this way of travel much better than driving for so long and flying.

Sleeping in our seats did leave something to be desired, though. It was quite warm (okay very hot! I was sweating!) and the train lurched at times so much that I thought I was going to fall out of my seat! But, overall, it was a nice way to travel.

Well Adam is here now and it looks like we will be traveling in style this week: they gave us a PT Cruiser! How ’bout that!
