Well duh!

I have a confession. (It’s nothing deep or dark, so don’t be disappointed or anything. ) I am not a naturally scheduled person. There I said it. The cat is now out of the bag! But all joking aside, it’s true. Schedules are not built into my personality and it’s all my mother’s fault, but it’s something that I am currently working on. You see, when you have multiple people in 1 house, with 1 person in charge of  schooling/keeping track of those multiple people, with different activities changing from week to week….that 1 person in charge of all this chaos life,  needs a schedule. Really, really bad! I know. I’m sure you’re all “like, DUH Jennifer!”.

So, I have revisited a schedule that I had done for last year (which actually means it was done sometime in 2008 because years have become obsolete within my brain and since we home school year round, I don’t have years cut up in nice little sections either). I finally found it on the computer. Now would you believe that someone actually spelled “schedule” wrong when they were naming the file? Causing much searching on said computer because they were searching for “schedule” and not “schedule” and worrying that the schedule would have to be created again?! And this person is also in charge of teaching spelling in previously mentioned school?…  Nah, I didn’t think you would….. Anyway, the much needed schedule was found and I went to revising it for this “year” (remember, “year” is very relative).

I must say it is working really well. I’m actually getting up in the mornings…okay, so I was 10 minutes later than the schedule said to get up, but I was still up in time to see the sunrise. (Which reminds me of something someone said once and I completely agree with, “If  God wanted me to see a sunrise, He would have scheduled it for later in the day.”) School actually happened. Yes, all subjects were done and complete by the time the schedule said to be done.  I knew what were going to eat before 10 o’clock, lunch was eaten before 2 o’clock, the children are all outside playing in the sunshine, and I am not feeling guilty for sitting here and not doing something else (even though there are other things to be doing).

I need to admit something else: today was the first day of the schedule. Stop snickering! Everyone has to start somewhere you know! But this is an encouragement to me. If you are interested in seeing our schedule, here it is:

schedule

It’s still a work in progress, but I think it’s work in the right direction. Even if I do still hate schedules.

Jennifer
