UFO Sunday

Okay, so it’s now Monday and I’m a day behind. Oh well.  At least I’m working on things!

What I’ve finished:

Flickr swaps:

I am in 2 Flickr swap groups. One of them is a fabric and chocolate swap, and my partner is in MO. I have sent her package and I’m impatiently waiting for mine. The other one is called Table Top Swap with secret partners, and this round we are making fabric baskets. I’ve made mine, mailed them to her, and she’s received them!

Her son’s name is embroidered on the tan bottom band of the back basket. I didn’t take a picture of it since I posted this picture in the group and it would have given it away.

Mine should be on it’s way soon! The deadline is Sept. 28.

What I’m currently working on:

My bottled rainbows quilt:

I’m sad to say that I haven’t worked on it in over 2 weeks. I still have the 9 squares left to do. It takes me about an hour a block to complete, so I’m not sure why I just don’t sit and do one a day…

My embroidered quilt:

I’m making progress! I have 6 out of 20 left to do, which is a lot more done then I thought! Wanna see?

I am embroidering a block for each person in our family, with a scene or image that represents the individuals likes. For example, in the foreground in the picture on the left is Isaac’s block. He LOVES anything Super Mario Brothers, so I embroidered Mario, a flying turtle, and other characters on it.

The picture on the left are ones that I completely finished this weekend. Can you guess what Malachi loves? And the ones on the right are the 6 that are left to do. I am hoping to have this done by Christmas. Once it’s finished, I’ll put on sashing and sashing squares each block with a border, making it a nice lap sized quilt. I’m been working steadily on this thing for about a year and it will feel good to get it done!

My Granny Squares quilt:

I need to put on the outer borders and then I will be finished with the top.

I was quite stupid and cut my sashing strips 1/2” to small. But instead of sucking it up and cutting more, I used them, which resulted in having to cut off a good number of the points in the squares block. Doh! Live and learn, I guess. They were all good points, too!!

Malachi was my cute little helper. Thanks Malachi!

My Swoon quilt:

Um.. this hasn’t been touched since March. Unless you count moving the bagged pieces around when I’ve reorganized things.

What is in the design stage:

The quilt for my SIL:

I will be making a lap sized whole cloth quilt for her. She loves henna designs (and does henna tatoos as a business, too!), so I decided that would be a fabulous motif to chose for her.

This is the design that I have decided upon with a small filler design or 2. Yes, I’m ambitious.

Or really stupid.

I’ll let you know which one…

My naturally dyed quilt:

Over the summer, the children and I, along with my mom, dyed fat quarters sized fabric using natural elements. We used coffee ground, tea, lilac twigs, spruce bark, onions peels, etc. (I have yet to blog about that. It’s on the dock to do!). I am intending on quilting different designs on each square.

Pillows for my other SIL:

My other SIL is a good artist and she has several of her paintings on her walls. They are simple motifs of leaves, branches, and the like. Very modern. She also has said that she wants new pillows for her couch. She’s not one for quilts or wall quilts, so I will make her some pillows quilting the same motifs that are in her paintings.

An I Spy quilt:

I was in an I Spy charm swap last spring and I’m in another one right now. In the end, I will be making an I Spy quilt for my children, using the “polaroid” looking block (I think).

I’m not one to work with little squares, so we’ll see what size I finally decide upon.

I think I’ll end now before I think of more to post/do!
